  1. I can definitely relate to a few of these… Thank you so much for this series and I can’t wait for tomorrow!

    1. Chef AJ, you are so right. I went to True North to take care of me and one day into my water fast, my mother fell ill. I only was able to water fast 8 days, rushing back to the East Coast to take care of her. It’s not easy, but I prepare and pack my meals each night and take them with me the next day to care for her. I love the support you give us. I’m starting this at 67. It’s never too late. Ellen

  2. Thank-you Chef AJ and Tobi for your hard work and positivity. I liked the language analogy.

  3. I believe that the bottom of the pit…is wherever you stop, look up, and see a beautiful horizon.

  4. Thank you for the sensible, down-to-earth way you presented information about this way of eating for those who are still on the fence, worried that they couldn’t possibly make such a dramatic lifestyle change. I have so many friends who continue to ask me how I could be “vegan”, as they call it, saying they could never live just on plants. I’d love to
have them come live with me so that I could show them how easy it is to make delicious food – meals that are quick and simple to make. It wasn’t until my husband adopted this way of eating that I started to get really creative and what fun I’m having experimenting with different recipes. Having said that, for years-and-years, I ate easy-to-make (and delicious) plant based meals so I’m living proof there’s no need to make things complicated. This way of eating is so worth it, on so many different levels. Thank you for presenting this series and enlightening so many!

  5. Thank you! A “calm, stable brain” regarding food—at age 59, after almost 50 years of dieting, I didn’t know it was possible. But it is! One day after eating this way (Thank you Chef AJ), I finally realized I was not spending every minute of every waking hour worrying, because I was hungry, or had eaten a “bad” food”, or or or…..my crazy monkey brain was able to be at peace with food.

    1. You sound like me, only I’m 68 and it took me 60!!! years. Better late than never I guess.

  6. Stephen Turner

I’m planning a marathon walk for when the weather gets warm (I don’t even intend to train that hard for it, perhaps one long walk per week in addition to my regular exercise). Meanwhile my younger friend, who rejects my advice, confers with his Doctors (for years now) over special boots and other ‘remedies’ to keep the persistent wound on the sole of his foot from worsening.

  7. Thank you very much for this series. But I wish you would add closed captioning. I have hearing loss and even with my hearing aids I have trouble understanding, especially when someone has an accent. I have read many of the pertinent books and know much of what is being discussed, but it is so inspring to hear these speakers and I don’t want to miss out.

      Video 1 notes
It is never the ideal time to go plant exclusive. The best time to start is now according to Dr. Doug Lisle.

Additive foods are readily available and socially acceptable. There is not a time that will be better than another. People that are caregivers, homeless, single parents have all changed to plant exclusive. If you really want to do something, you will find a way. If you don’t want to do it, you will find an excuse.

Clients have asked Dr. Goldhammer (a plant exclusive Dr) if they can have wine. He said “It depends”. Depends on what? How sick do you want to Be? Don’t wait to hit “rock bottom”. That may be death . Chef AJ compares it to learning a new language- eventually it becomes second nature.

If you grew up eating the standard American diet, there will be learning curve. You can use some of the same cooking techniques, like batch cooking, that you already do. Just add more plants to those you Re already eating. Most sides are plants. You can learn to cook without oil by subbing water or broth. If you have never cooked, think about taking an online cooking course or any of Chef AJ’s cooking videos on YouTube. How are you getting your food now just modify it.

Chef AJ has not have anyone follow her program that it didn’t lose weight.
It is never too late. People in their nineties have had success. It is also about feeling good. Sugars and flours messes with your brain. There is a calmness that occurs. Chef AJ feels lighter. Losing weight helped her knee by taking the pressure off. She just thinks about food 2-3 times a day, not constantly.

  8. I learned that it is never too late. I am 59, a far cry from the 90 year old that AJ talked about. Also, rock bottoms are difficult to define with food. Death is the ultimate bottom. I have hit many, currently, it is knee pain and avoiding illnesses that my folks have. Weight loss too, but health is the primary motivator, yet I can’t seem to get started. I think the old Nike slogan “just do it” may help. Like AJ said, the time is NOW!

  9. Thanks Chef AJ for your inspiration about doing the wfpb life style…My biggest takeaway was the language analogy. I have had a liver transplant previously and just got word from my liver Doctor that my liver enzymes are elevated and will have to be checked again in 2 weeks. If still elevated will need to do a new course of action…..

  10. Thank you Chef AJ and Tobi for all the positive encouragement you give us and for all your work on the Summit. When listening to this video, it reminded me of Dr. Klaper’s phrase that he uses to welcome people to True North – “Welcome to Camp Stop Kidding Yourself”. Getting a good routine going and sticking with it is the key. Thanks again.

  11. Brynda Privitt

My husband and I are staying at True North in June. Happy 50th Birthday to ME!! Cannot wait. Thank you AJ for talking about it, I finally pulled the trigger and we are going. What are you doing the end of June????? I think you should come to True North and do a cooking demo so I can hug you in person. We are doing the “unrestricted eating” and lectures, a plant based 50th birthday retreat for me!

  12. Gail Bromenschenkel

Thank you, Chef AJ and Tobi! You are inspirational. I can relate to the “calm” feeling when eating this way. It is real.

  13. Thank you both so much for these videos! The more chances I get to reinforce these ideas, the better my chances are of long term success. I really want this to be the time I do this, permanently.

  14. Very inspirational. Thank you both so much for making these videos. The summit had great information and I appreciate you adding these videos to help with the most important part….Implementation…putting into action!

  15. I cant wait to start my plant based whole foods living again, tomorrow. Listening to you, chef AJ, and Toby, helps me to stay positive and keep trying. Thank you.

  16. Thank you from this 73 year old. I have been trying to be 100% wfpb for a year. I am maybe 85 or 90% on board. I still have trouble elimanating salt and fat. Processed foods sneak in once in a while. Thanks for all the help you have given me and many others. I don’t miss or want animal foods anymore. Sweets either. Anyway, thanks to you both.

  17. I am so excited to have these videos. I was recently diagnosed with a form of blood cancer and Monday I was told I need oral chemo. I am told the cancer is not curable and that diet plays no role in improving my condition. I am hoping by following your program, Chef AJ, I will prove the doctors wrong and it will allow me to avoid chemo.

  18. OK, circumstances beyond my control…or I thought…well since the summit and now this, I now know I am ready. I’m tired of being tired, tired of having swollen feet and legs. I am a food addict. I will conquer this. Thanks Chef AJ & Toby for keeping us on target and educated.

  19. I have friends who eat SAD and they say they’ll die happy “because bacon” but I try to remind them kindly that they wont die happy because beforehand, they’ll have a chronic disease related to heart disease, cholesterol or diabetes. It’s not like one day you “catch” a chronic disease and you’re actually not going to be happy about it. But then I remember that it took me 33 years to learn how to be truly healthy and I used to have an ego like theirs. I hope more people open their eyes to proper eating habits. Even in my own family, I have debates at the dinner table. Thank you for spreading the good messages–always. Please keep going and we all appreciate you and your wonderful team!

  20. AJ, you say that everyone loses weight on this way of eating. well what about people who have problems like, fatty liver, hernia and gut issues. i have tried and been on a wholefood plant based diet for over a year now, but i havent lost my tummy weight, which never seems to move much. can you answer that one for me please.

  21. Elizabeth Knight

Hi Chef AJ and Tobi, I was surprised and pleased to see this follow up from the summit. Continuing to learn matters to me. I have re-watched some of the videos and learned new things each time. I feel like this is one of the best investments in my health. Thank you!

  22. I am SO grateful to have found Chef AJ — she has truly changed my life and those around me! No matter how many times I watch her videos I always learn something new that I can apply to my life and those I love. I also shared her information with my neighbors and within 2 weeks, they are plant-based, whole foods, SOS free eaters!! Keep up the great work, Chef AJ, especially for those of us who so appreciate your free content…keep up the revolution!!

  23. I love your necklace. Below is the most of what Chef AJ said in case you are hearing impaired.

  24. Great video. I really need to stop making excuses and take control of my actions and my health. Thank you Chef AJ and Tobi! So grateful for all you do!

  25. Mary-Jeanne Smith

Oh my, Coke slurpees were a huge favorite of mine as well. LOL! I really appreciated your comments about how you feel in your body and your brain now. It helps me to hear the benefits derived from eating right. I am about 90% on track, but I keep backsliding on certain snacks foods, and coffee with the wrong things in it. I really want to get this right. I’m 53, and I’ve wasted to much of my life on this craziness. Thank you!

  26. Wow. Here I am sitting on my couch with my newborn baby thinking about how I can possibly adopt this huge change in my life right now. The truth is my brain instantly thinks of reasons I CAN’T change and overcomplicating the lifestyle. It doesn’t take anymore time to cook up a healthy whole food plant based meal than it does a life sucking fatty standard American meal. In fact… in general plants take LESS time to prepare than any meat does. You can even have most veggies raw… cannot do that with meat! Eww! MIND BLOWN. THANK YOU CHEF AJ! I’m kicking my fat sick brain to the curb and I’m gonna make it happen!

  27. Lois Shivers-Wynn

Hi Chef AJ. This was an awesome video and I signed up for your 21 day challenge. In another video you mentioned being able to buy fully prepared meals that you can just heat up. Will that be available now? I would like to have the food here when I start on 5/1 if possible. Thanks so much! Lois

  28. Your 21 day challenge sounds great. I do need to know about what the time you will be teaching. How do we get to ask questions?

  29. AJ thanks so much for this series. Don’t lose hope. I have heard you over and over and I think I am finally getting it. thanks so much for all you do!!!
