Dr. Rosane Oliveira
Dr. Rosane Oliveira combines a lifelong passion for nutrition with 25 years of genetics research to create programs that help people develop healthy habits on their journey towards a more plant-based lifestyle.
She is a Visiting Clinical Professor in Public Health Sciences at the University of California Davis and is currently working with the School of Medicine curriculum redesign team to integrate topics related to preventive and lifestyle medicine into the new 4-year curriculum.
For the past 10 years, Dr. Oliveira also served as the founding director of the first Integrative Medicine program at UC Davis, where she created a Lifestyle Medicine Elective, published a #1 Amazon bestseller cookbook, and ran an annual challenge that gave nearly 150,000 individuals across 60+ countries the chance to try out plant-based eating.
As a molecular geneticist, Dr. Oliveira has studied transmission of infectious diseases, drug resistance in microorganisms, cancer initiation and progression, and how the food we eat can change gene expression to either cause disease or promote health and longevity.
She completed her postgraduate studies in Brazil and did her postdoctoral training in immunogenetics and functional genomics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
She is a native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and has lived in the US since 2003.
